From March 6 to 9, Good Morning America, Nightline and several other ABC news and entertainment shows aired coverage about Pandora - The World of Avatar. The View was the most dominant of these, broadcasting for an entire week from Disney's Animal Kingdom. This was the first real peek into the land, which was still partially under construction at the time. For both shows, I was tasked with researching Pandora and the film, "AVATAR," curating photos and film, and more for various segments. On site, I assisted in the management of taped and live segment production.
Good Morning America had segments on two different days. Their first hit was a live broadcast with Whoopi Goldberg from The View's temporary stage in front of the Tree of Life at Disney's Animal Kingdom. The short segment aired to an audience of more than 4 million viewers.
Their second hit was a live broadcast with anchor Paula Faris from Pandora on March 9. The segment featured content filmed throughout the week, including interviews with Imagineer Joe Rohde and Jon Landau, producer of Avatar. The segment aired to an audience of more than 4 million viewers.
Nightline aired their segment on March 9 and featured Faris as well. Their piece featured interviews with James Cameron, Landau and Rohde, a look inside the attractions and food on Pandora, and more. Their segment aired to an audience of almost 2 million viewers.
